I’ve worked with a lot of parents who don’t want to reach out for help or don’t want to talk about what parenting looks like, or what raising children looks like, in their home.
Parenting is hard. There is no manual. There’s really no training for it, and there’s no one right way to parent. And that means parenting also comes with a lot of thoughts and feelings.
Here’s what I want to say:
You’re not doing it wrong.
If your child is demonstrating behavior that you disagree with, it is not your fault.
If you are waiting and hoping that it’s a phase and they’ll just grow out of it, you can do that.
Or I can show you how to move through it faster.
And better yet, I can show you how to find a place of calm and confidence that is not contingent on the behavior your child is demonstrating.
Now, for some of you, you may be saying, “My kid’s behavior isn’t all that bad.” Or, “My kid isn’t like those kids.”
And here’s what I’m going to say to you:
If you are experiencing thoughts and emotions about parenting and being a parent that you don’t like and that you would like to change, then this program is for you.
Because what you are experiencing at home may seem small compared with what someone else is experiencing, if we’re playing the comparison game. But if it feels big to you, and if you’re having big emotions in response to it, then it’s worth paying attention to.
I have been working with children for over 20 years. I have been working in behavioral intervention for over 16. I love what I do. I love working with the kids.
But my heart is being pulled toward their moms and their dads who are experiencing something they never could have predicted when they imagined raising small humans.
Together, we can combine:
- your experience with your child:
- what you know about them,
- what you know about your family,
- and your wants, wishes, desires, and values
- with what I know about:
- education,
- behavior science,
- and how our thoughts, feelings, and energy affect our everyday work
